Arad Connectivity recently completed an 18-meter Channel Sounding test using the two Nordic nRF54L15 evaluation boards. This test not only demonstrated the exceptional performance of the nrf54L15 SoC but also provided valuable data for future wireless communication applications.
Channel Sounding is a technique used to evaluate the characteristics of a wireless channel, providing detailed data on signal transmission quality, interference, and channel response. This information is crucial for optimizing the performance of wireless communication systems. In this test, Arad Connectivity used the nrf54L15 evaluation board to conduct precise Channel Sounding over 18 meters, obtaining high-quality data.
The specific steps involved in this Channel Sounding test are as follows:
Preparation Phase:
Equipment Setup: Ensure all testing equipment, including the Nordic nRF54L15 evaluation board, antennas, power supplies, and testing software, are ready.
Environment Setup: Choose a suitable testing environment, ensuring minimal interference sources, and measure the testing distance (18 meters in this case).
Framework version: NCS V.2.9.0/zephyr/channel sounding
Initiator: Nordic nRF54L15 evaluation board
Reflector: Nordic nRF54L15 evaluation board
Configuration:
Board Configuration: Use specialized software to configure the nRF54L15 evaluation board, setting parameters such as frequency, transmission power, and other relevant settings.
Channel Configuration: Set up the testing channel, ensuring that both the transmitting and receiving devices operate on the same frequency and channel.
Testing:
Leverages Bluetooth Channel Sounding Phase-based Ranging (PBR) and Round-Trip Time (RTT) to establish communication between the Initiator and the Reflector. The measured distance data is read by a tablet that runs the LightBlue application.
Data Analysis:
Data Collection: Import the received signal data into analysis software for initial processing and organization.
